Join artist and educator Celine Cheung for a fun, hands-on workshop inspired by the vibrant colours, playful forms and joyful spirit of Vipoo Srivilasa's exhibition re/JOY.

Participants will create their own wearable artwork, choosing to make a colourful headdress or eye mask decorated with symbols, patterns and shapes that reflect their personality, interests and experiences. Through paper cutting, decorating and assembly techniques, you'll transform simple materials into a unique creation full of character.

Suitable for all ages. Adult supervision is recommended for children aged 6 and under.

This is a relaxed drop-in workshop, and participants are welcome to join at any time during the session and stay for as little or as long as they like.

Celine Cheung is a visual artist based on unceded Dharug land. Working across performance, installation and image-making, her practice orbits around relationships, fiction and fantasy – drawing from a wide range of references, from Gothic tales, fan media to Eastern spirituality. Her art is often guided by visceral responses to love and loss. She has been interested in how dreams and aspirations stand in conflict with a haunted past in the context of migration in Western Sydney.

Since completing a BFA/BA at UNSW Art & Design, she has presented projects and exhibitions at Firstdraft, Fairfield City Museum and Gallery, Diversity Arts Australia etc. She was the recipient of the HIDDEN Sculpture Prize in 2023, and a finalist at the 68th Blake Prize. She was a 2024-25 resident at Parramatta Artists’ Studios Granville.
