The lecture will be delivered by Poornima Menon, a saree specialist with deep connections across saree business and advocacy initiatives.

Poornima will introduce audiences to the unique characteristics of each of the 16 states which will coincide with a live demonstration of a saree draped on a different member of the Saree Club, a local saree enthusiasts’ network. As each new saree takes the stage, audiences will discover the craftsmanship behind every weave, the techniques passed down through generations, the symbolism woven into the motifs, and the stories that make each textile unique. From elegant drapes that reflect local customs and lifestyles to extraordinary weaving traditions that continue to thrive today, this immersive experience celebrates India’s living textile heritage and the artisans who have preserved these timeless traditions for centuries.
