In 2026 Effie returns to venues across Australia to premiere her hilarious new stage show Frigid to Feral
While beauty remains a curse for the empress of UpYourselfness - there’s no denying the world is changing, and Effie is changing with it.
What’s happening to me? I’ve gone from rational to irrational. From pristine to vulvarine. From frigid to feral. And I don’t know who or what to blame.
In her previous shows Effie’s tackled love, digital dating, being a virgin bride, a pandemic, cancel culture and political correctness; but 2026 poses a more intimate challenge, suddenly, Effie can’t even recognize herself.
I thought I’d mature like a fine wine, so why am I becoming a very dry martini? I’ve always been hot — but now I’m boiling. I knew climate change was bad, but why is it suddenly dehydrating my southern regions? Does my body need a total fire ban? And how did I get dandruff in my pants?
While she’s always been sure of herself, now Effie is wondering - and it’s got her big boofhead spinning right round, like a record, baby.
Is it politics? The Right and the Left are cracking it at each other. Meanwhile I’m cracking it at everyone. Is it all the pressure? The cost of living? The cost of speaking? The cost of being?
Effie’s determined to discover what’s happening to her, even if it comes at the cost of everything she cares about: her sanity, her vanity, her very humanity.
Being human comes at a huge price and that hurts, especially for a cheapskate like me.
Join Effie as she explores her past, her present, her life and loves and unravels a conspiracy so massive, it’ll blow dry your mind.

REVIEWS:
‘Outspoken Effie tackles ageing, marriage and menopause with bawdy humour and razor-sharp crowd-work.’ – The List Review (4 Stars)
‘Mary Coustas, the creative genius behind Effie, has crafted a brilliant standup show that is informative and truth-telling, wrapped up in a carefully constructed hour of standup.’
– Glam Adelaide Review (4.5 Stars)
